Chase Field Arizona Diamondbacks baseball

There’s nothing like going to the ballpark to watch a baseball game and soak up some sun. The crack of the bat, the smell of hot dogs, the hum of the crowd—it’s an experience that just can’t be duplicated anywhere else. Oh, and let’s not forget… the food and beer!

Yesterday was that kind of day.

Now, just a few days earlier, the Arizona Diamondbacks had been swept by the Los Angeles Dodgers —ugh. But this week? A fresh start. A new opponent. (And let me just say—playing the Detroit Tigers.

Ken and I went to game three of the series, and the stakes were simple: the D’Backs had already won the first two games, so this one would complete the sweep. You could feel that energy in the air—everyone hoping to witness that final win.

And guess what?

They did it!

A tight, nail-biting game that ended 1–0 in favor of the Diamondbacks. Not a high-scoring blowout, but honestly, those are sometimes the most exciting games to watch. Every pitch matters. Every swing counts.

Pitching for the D’Backs was Zac Gallan – their golden boy—and he absolutely delivered. Calm, focused, and in control. And that one precious run? Courtesy of Corbin Carroll – another rising star who continues to impress.

Now let’s talk about that Arizona sun…

The roof was closed at the time I took the picture. Below the post I’ve added a few more photos.

Even though Chase Field has a roof that can open and close, someone decided to leave it open. So there we were—sitting in the blazing sunshine all afternoon. Let’s just say… I got my vitamin D for the week! ☀️

The game itself was quick, which I didn’t mind one bit given the heat. Sometimes a fast game is a blessing, especially when you’re slowly melting into your seat.

After the final out, Ken and I kept the celebration going and headed over to Nando’s Mexican Cafe. We grabbed seats at the bar, ordered a couple of drinks, and just relaxed. The food? Delicious. The drinks? Even better.

I’ll admit… I got a little tipsy—but hey, it was a winning day! 🍹

From baseball victories to good food and great company, it was one of those simple, perfect days that just makes you smile.

Sounds like you were having a wonderful time at the ball park. And at Nando’s – this would have been my favorite part ;-)
I can’t believe you’re already suffering from heat in Arizona. Here in Switzerland we just had winter coming back once more with a dusting of snow.
Our family’s favorite sport to watch is ice hockey, especially our teenage son’s games.

I like Hockey…I do miss the fights on the ice!

Right now we’re in the 80’s. Last week we hit 100! It was about 85 degrees when w e were at the game, but close to 3 hours in the sun makes it feel 100!

But, in Arizona it gets to 115/120 degrees in the summer for days! It will cool down in October again. We really don’t have winter here. 40’s and 50’s…it’s more like fall.

BUT, in Northern Arizona it snows.

    Way to go Diamondbacks!

The Blue Jays have their turn coming up to be swept by the Dodgers. I hope we’re able to win at least one of the games.

We love going to the games. The past three years we had lead-off packs which gave us all home games for May and June. Sadly they didn’t offer them this year so we’ll be watching most of them from home.

I don’t like the Dodgers. I’m originally from NY, and the Dodgers were a Brooklyn team. Then they moved to LA…since then…booooo to Dodgers! I’ll root for the Blue Jays – or any team – when the Dodgers are playing.

We don’t go to games often. It’s way too expensive. I believe it cost us close to $300, including tickets, this time around. The beer was $12…each. 3 beers, 2 pretzels, a Baseball Cap – I’m broke. LOL

I used to be a baseball and hockey fan but havent watched any sports for a long time, not even the Olympics. You got me thinking about hot dogs though. Hot dogs with saurkraut.
