Bike riding in the sunshine

Arizona’s winter is finally loosening its grip, and we couldn’t be more ready for some warmer weather! The chilly mornings and brisk evenings were nice for a while, but let’s be honest—we’re tired of the cold. It’s time for sunshine, blue skies, and temperatures that don’t require bundling up.

With the change in seasons, I’m getting my bike ready for some long, relaxing rides. There’s nothing like cruising under the Arizona sun, feeling the warmth on my skin, and soaking in the beautiful desert landscapes. The days are getting longer, and that means more time to be outside enjoying it all.

Another welcome shift? The snowbirds are heading back home. While it’s always fun to have the seasonal crowd around, there’s something peaceful about this time of year when the park quiets down again. No more crowded roads, packed restaurants, or the constant buzz of activity. Just calm, open spaces and a more relaxed pace—exactly how I like it.

Here’s to saying goodbye to winter and embracing the warmth ahead. Bring on the sunshine, bike rides, and quiet, peaceful days! Who else is ready for Arizona to feel like Arizona again?

I have never been to Arizona yet. I am, however, happy to say buh bye for now to snowy and gray weather. Spring storms are no joke either though.

I used to live in NY, so I understand.

We still have some chilly days ahead of us here in Michigan. I’m wearing socks and a sweater right now!! My bike needs new tires. Thanks for the prompting to get those fixed.

I spent a month in Lake Havasu quite a few years ago. I think it was February. We rented a house from a friend. It had a swimming pool and a sauna. I remember swimming in the pool in the afternoon. It had a warming blanket. The mornings and evenings were coolish but not cold. I guess you acclimatize to the weather. We took our bikes there and I remember the hilly streets and screaming going down. I’m not a very good cyclist. Our winters here are in the minus 20s and 30s sometimes. So Arizona was tropical to me. :-)

Havasu is quite different from where I live in Mesa. Not too many hills around here…although there are some. But, sounds like you had a lovely trip.

One day I hope to make it to Arizona but for now I’m enjoying the cool mornings and sunny afternoons in South Carolina. I’m so glad the cold, rainy weather has left and I’m excited to get all my gardens looking good.
