Did everyone have a good Easter? Do you celebrate Easter? What did your day look like—family, friends, cooking up a storm, or maybe a potluck where everyone brought their favorite dish? Some of my friends decided to go out to eat this year, which honestly sounds pretty tempting too! However you spent your day, I hope it was filled with something that made you smile.
As for me, I had a really lovely Easter.

This year, both Ken’s family and mine gathered at our house. There were nine of us altogether—not too big, not too small—just the right number to fill the house with laughter and conversation. You know that kind of happy noise? The kind that makes you stop for a second and just take it all in? That was the kind of day it was. Oh, and Lucy was over as well. That cute little puppy just turned 1 year old.
Ken and I took on the cooking, putting together a variety of dishes for everyone to enjoy. And believe it or not, I made Easter Bread! I honestly can’t remember the last time I made it—it’s been years and years—but somehow it all came back to me. There’s something so comforting about bringing back an old tradition like that.
Of course, no family gathering is complete without a little friendly competition. Out came the Corn Hole set—always ready to go at a moment’s notice. And just as expected, my son-in-law dominated the game. That man wins every time! Luckily, I was on his team, so I got to share in the victory without doing much of the work. Not a bad deal if you ask me.

After we all stuffed ourselves (as one does on holidays), it was time for dessert. I picked up an Easter cake from Walmart, and let me tell you—it had way too much buttercream frosting. Which, unfortunately (or fortunately), is exactly how I like it. No complaints from me there!
By the end of the day, I was completely wiped out. Hosting is no small task, and I’m definitely feeling it more these days. It’s funny—I never think about the “getting older” part when I decide to host. In my mind, I’m still full of energy. But my body gently reminds me otherwise. Just because I don’t look like I’ll be 75 in a few months doesn’t mean my body isn’t keeping track!
Still, tired or not, it was absolutely worth it.
There’s something so special about having the people you love gathered under one roof, sharing food, laughter, and a little bit of chaos. Those are the moments that stay with you.
So whether your Easter was big or small, busy or quiet, planned or spontaneous, I hope it brought you a little joy.
And if nothing else… I hope there was cake. 💛
